Taipei, Taiwan, September 22, 2015 –QNAP® Systems, Inc. today announced the release of new enterprise-class 12Gbps SAS-enabled, 40GbE-ready TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP series rackmount NAS. Available in 24, 16, 15 and 12-bay models, the series is compatible with the high-density 12Gbps SAS RAID expansion enclosures REXP-1620U-RP and REXP-1220U-RP. Featuring Qtier™ Technology, that drives Auto Tiering for optimal storage efficiency, the TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP series can help businesses save money on expensive Flash technology but still enjoy exceptional application performance and lower TCO of storage.
The TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP series is an industry-leading unified NAS that supports Auto Tiering to deliver constant optimisation of data across high-performance SSD, 12Gbps SAS drives and high-capacity SATA disks. “QNAP’s Qtier Technology triggers storage auto-tiering for the TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP series, allowing the right data to be placed in the right disks at the right time according to the access frequency of stored data,” said Alan Lin, Product Manager of QNAP. “The new NAS series realises the optimal storage efficiency and boosts performance, making it the best storage solution especially for environments like virtualisation that contain dynamically-changing workloads.”
The TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP series is powered by a quad-core Intel® Xeon® E3 v3 processor with 16GB DDR3 or 8GB DDR3 ECC RAM to deliver high performance up to 3,800+MB/s throughput and 268,100+ IOPS, supports 10GbE-ready network connectivity, and features pre-installed 256GB mSATA modules for caching to improve the overall workflow of IOPS-demanding applications. “The support for 12Gbps SAS hard drives remarkably increases disk I/O performance and offers high reliability for data transmission and storage,” added Lin.
Supporting Mellanox® ConnectX-3 Pro adapter cards with 10/40/56 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, the TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP series can achieve significantly higher throughput for high-performance embedded I/O applications and virtualization acceleration. “We are glad to cooperate with Mellanox to deliver the most cost-effective computing and storage Ethernet Interconnection solution by the RDMA technology,” said Waterball Liu, Product Manager of QNAP. “Businesses can benefit a lot from the fast, flexible storage network of the 40GbE-ready QNAP NAS for boosting their mission-critical IT performance.”
Featuring high scalability, the TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP series supports online capacity expansion by connecting up to eight QNAP RAID expansion enclosures (REXP-1620U-RP and REXP-1220U-RP) to flexibly expand the total storage to over 1 PB raw capacity (depending on models) for growing data needs. The QTS Storage Manager can be used to manage the entire NAS capacity, and quickly create volume/LUN snapshots for easy backup, restoration and cloning.
The new SAS-enabled series features the latest QTS 4.2 operating system, and provides rich virtualisation applications: Users can run multiple applications on Windows®/Linux®/UNIX®/Android™ based virtual machines on the NAS with the Virtualisation Station; operate multiple isolated Linux systems on the NAS as well as download apps from the built-in Docker Hub™ Registry by using the Container Station which integrates LXC and Docker® lightweight virtualisation technologies; and simplify virtual storage management for VMware®, Microsoft® and Citrix® virtualisation solutions.
The TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP series includes comprehensive business applications and is ideal for enterprises and organisations to build a secure private cloud. The cross-platform file sharing for Windows, Mac®, and Linux/UNIX users makes the TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP series an excellent centralised storage solution for organisations with a large number of users. The support for Windows AD, LDAP directory services and Windows ACL improves the efficiency of permission settings. It also acts as a domain controller for Windows, and offers flexible backup solutions for Windows and Mac and disaster recovery solutions with RTRR, rsync and cloud storage backup.
QNAP provides various apps to improve work productivity, including Qsirch for quickly finding NAS data with its powerful near real-time full-text search engine, Qsync that supports centralised configuration and can remotely erase the Qsync folder, Q’center for centrally managing multiple QNAP NAS units; and Gmail Backup for archiving important emails in the NAS.
The TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP series offers up to 5 year warranty with 3-year global warranty inclusive at no extra cost. This premier warranty demonstrates QNAP’s attention to the essential business needs of continuous operations and non-interrupted services to their customers.
