Introduction

PCCOOLER has released a fan hub named H01 along with their new coolers and the fans. This is an 8-port PWM and A-RGB fan hub which is SATA powered and can be connected to any standard 3-pin 5V A-RGB controller or the motherboard(s). I am appreciating the simplicity of the design. Please note that this is not a controller itself but only a hub allowing the connected devices to be controlled using a single controller. The hub has a magnet included for easy installation.

The hub comes in a paperboard box.

The hub has a built-in magnet for ease of installation and removal. Using SATA power, it can power all the connected devices with enough juice to ensure full performance.

There is a thick Styrofoam-made container inside the main packing box. The hub is placed in it.

Closer Look

It is time to take a look at the hub. The hub has a dimension of 133×47.5×14.3mm (LxWxH). It is finished in matte and glazed black color.

The top side of the hub has a glazed finish. We can see lines on both sides which are there for aesthetic purposes. PCCOOLER branding is in the center. Every port is clearly labeled to help out the user.

The fan ports are labeled as FAN1, FAN2, and so on. The same is the case for the ARGB ports labeled as ARGB1, ARGB2, and so on. The PWM signal and A-RGB control signals are provided on the FAN1 and ARGB1 ports. Keep that in mind when handling the hub.

The above picture shows the headers/ports on the H01. All the fan ports are 4-pin headers whereas all the A-RGB ports have 3-pin headers.

There is a 4-pin port on one side. It is labeled as PWM/ARGB IN. This is where the proprietary 4-pin connector of the provided cables goes in the hub.

The SATA port is built inside the hub. I wish PCCOLER would have taken a different approach with SATA cable coming out of the hub. This would have allowed easier access to the hub on the backside of the case.

PCCOOLER has provided a single cable with a hub for syncing the hub to the controller source.

One end of the cable has a 4-pin proprietary connector that is connected to the hub.

The other end has a 4-pin PWM connector and a 3-pin A-RGB (5V) connector.

The fans rated voltage on H01 is 12VDC with a safety current rating of 0.3A per port with a total of 2.4A for all 8 ports. The A-RGB rated voltage is 5VDC with a safety current rating of 0.65A and a total of 5.2A for all 8 ports.

Setting up H01

The installation of the H01 is quite simple. Decide the location in the case where you would want to install the hub. Connect the 4-pin proprietary connector to the hub.

Connect the 4-pin PWM connector to the 4-pin PWM header and the 3-pin A-RGB connector to the 3-pin ARGB header on the motherboard or controller.

Connect the SATA cable from the PSU to the hub. You are all set.

 

Testing

Following test bench is used: –

We have used these fans combined to test the PCCOOLER H01’s performance:

  • 2x Fractal Design Aspect 12 RGB PWM
  • 3x GELID Solutions Stella Daisy-Chain

These fans have different ratings for the fan and the LEDs and would be good enough stress on the H01. The H01’s 4-pin PWM connector was connected to the CPU Fan header of the motherboard and the 3-pin A-RGB connector was connected to the 3-pin header of the motherboard. All the fans were found working flawless and the A-RGB lighting was working as well. All the fans were responding to the change in the lighting mode.

Conclusion

We have tested the PCCOOLER H01 this time. It is an 8-port Fan and A-RGB hub which simply allows the user to connect up to 8x fans/A-RGB devices to the hub and control all the connected devices from a single source. Please note that this is only a hub and does not have a controller.

The hub has a sleek design and each port is clearly labeled. I appreciate the simplistic form and function. The hub is SATA powered so expect the full performance from the connected devices. It also has a built-in magnet for easy handling inside the PC Case. I would suggest the PCCOOLER change the SATA port design. Instead of providing the port, provide a SATA cable which would give the user somewhat more flexibility to install the hub in the case.
