The power bank has a carbon fiber wrap all around giving a spectacular look to the power bank. The only visible Sabrent branding is towards the base of the unit otherwise there is no branding anywhere else making it subtle from the branding perspective. The power bank has a length of 6.6 inches and a width of 2.8 inches. The 20000mAh power bank is quite heavy for that matter which is understandable.

A key feature is the LCD display on the top which shows the available battery timing in terms of percentage.

The backside of the power bank has the same carbon fiber wrap without any branding on it.

There are two USB Type-A ports with a micro-USB port. These ports are rated for DC5V at 3A max. The micro USB port can supply 5V~2A or 9V-2A (18W Max).

There is a Type-C USB port on the side of the housing. This is a dual-port. It serves for charging the power bank as well as it charges the devices. It is rated for DC5V -2A, DC9V-2A (18W Max, PD 3.0) on the input side. On the output side, this port is rated for DC5V~3A DC9V~2A DC12V~1.5A (18W Max QC3.0 + PD3.0). With a maximum of 18W, I don’t see this power bank charging the laptops as such.

There is a button on the other side of the power bank. Pressing it once will light up the LCD and the user will be able to note the battery level. The light on the LCD will go off after a short time.

There is a label on the other end of the power bank. It shows the power rating of the ports and the serial number of the product.

Testing

The power bank was tested by charging the Samsung Galaxy A72 smartphone connected to the charger and then with its own charger. The Ampere app was used to record the current and voltage being supplied to the mobile phone.

The above picture shows the battery charging status of the mobile phone when connected to the Sabrent power bank. I was expecting this charger to fast charge the mobile device which was not the case. The maximum input current was 1030mA with an average of around 880mA. The mobile was showing this charging as Line Charging confirming that it was not a fast charge. The charging was done via a Type-C cable. We then used the Sabrent Thunderbolt 3 USB Type-C cable but the result was the same.

The mobile phone was then connected to the Samsung original adapter and the reading was taken after 20 minutes of charging. The maximum current reading was 2000mA with an average of over 1700mA input current and the mobile was fast-charged.

The below table summarizes the findings:

Samsung A72 Charging [Input Current] Samsung A72 Charging Time
Sabrent Power Bank 880mA 2 hr and 30 minutes [Full Charge]
Samsung Adapter 1700mA 1 hrs and 20 minutes [Full Charge]

It took roughly 6 hours to charge the power bank using the Samsung adapter.

Conclusion

Sabrent has provided an on-the-go solution with their portable chargers available in two configurations; 10000mAh and 20000mAh using polymer batteries. We have tested the Sabrent 20000mAh battery USB C PD Power Bank with Quick Charge 3.0. The dimension of this charger or power bank is 6.6inch x 2.8inch (LxW). The power bank has a carbon fiber wrap over it with minimal branding.

The power bank features an LCD display so that the user can know the actual battery charge level in percentage. The LCD remains lit off until the power bank is connected to the device or to the power source. Additionally, there is a dedicated button that can be pressed to light the LCD for the display.

The power bank has a total of three ports. Two are USB Type-A ports and one is a USB Type-C port. The power bank is capable of charging three devices simultaneously (line charging). There is a micro-USB input port to charge the power bank for which the Sabrent has provided a micro-USB cable as well.

The power rating of the ports is as under:

Output USB/ Type-C: DC5V~3A DC9V~2A DC12V~1.5A(18W Max QC3.0+PD3.0).

Input: Micro USB 5V~2A. 9V-2A(18W Max)/Type-C DC5V~3A DC9V~2A (18W Max PD3.0).

The power bank supports Quick Charge (QC) 3.0 and Power Delivery (PD) 3.0.

We have tested the power bank using the Samsung Galaxy A72 smartphone. A full single charge of the phone using the Sabrent power bank took 2 hours and 30 minutes approximately. The phone was online charging as the power bank did not fast charge the phone using the Type-C port. The phone was fully charged in an hour and 20 minutes using the phone’s original adapter. The power bank with fully discharged status took roughly 6 hours for 100% recharging. The power bank provided 3 full charges to the Samsung Galaxy A72 smartphone. This phone has a battery capacity of 4860mAh.

This power bank is listed at $169.99 at the time of the review and Sabrent is offering a 1-year warranty on it. This can be extended to a maximum of 3 years by registering the product with Sabrent. The massive battery on the Sabrent power bank is handy in case you are traveling or in case of power failure, as in our case it fully charged our smartphone 3 times with 3% battery remaining on the power bank. The only caveat is that it did not fast charge the smartphone.

We are thankful to Sabrent for sending in the unit for the testing.
