Bionic Bay is now available on PC and PlayStation 5

Bionic Bay, a new hand-crafted pixel art platformer, is now available on Steam and PlayStation 5. After years of development, the creators have finally opened the doors for players to enter this strange and exciting world filled with puzzles, speedrunning, and science-based tools.

The idea for Bionic Bay began with a simple Reddit post. Juhana, the game’s creative director, came across a “swap” gameplay mechanic created by Psychoflow Studio. That moment led to a strong partnership between the two, combining Juhana’s skills in level design and art with Psychoflow’s technical knowledge.

Bionic Bay is a fast-paced puzzle platformer where you play as a “Research Participant” in a mysterious test program. You’ll explore 23 hand-crafted levels full of traps, clever puzzles, and tricky paths. The game may look pretty with its detailed pixel graphics, but it’s made to challenge players who enjoy quick reactions, smart thinking, and tight controls.

The game features several creative tools to help you along the way. The Swap mechanic lets you switch places with objects, creating new ways to move through levels. ChronoLag is a time-slowing ability that gives you more control in fast areas or helps boost your speed for races. Power Fist lets you launch objects to open paths or solve puzzles faster. Gravity Manipulation allows you to change gravity’s direction, which can help or hurt depending on how you use it.

These tools are introduced one by one as you progress, and you’ll often need to combine them to get past tougher challenges. The game was carefully tested by the developers throughout the process, making sure the levels are fair but still difficult enough to feel rewarding.

For those who love competition, Bionic Bay Online adds even more to the experience. You can race through time-limited levels against other players’ ghost data, trying to get the fastest time and climb the global leaderboards. You can also customise your scientist character for these runs. More online events and special levels are planned after launch.

A fun surprise in the game is a special level made for Shuhei Yoshida, a famous PlayStation figure and big fan of the game. If you beat his score in this challenge level, you’ll unlock the special Shu skin for your character.

Bionic Bay Deluxe edition and classic monster skins

There’s also a Deluxe edition available, which includes the Classic Monster skin pack. This pack features eight costumes based on old-school horror characters like aliens and werewolves, giving your scientist a cool new look while racing online.

Bionic Bay is more than just a regular platformer. It mixes fast action, puzzle solving, and smart tools in a beautiful pixel world. Whether you want to explore the single-player story or try to top the leaderboards, this game offers something fun and fresh for everyone.
