UT98 silent mechanical keyboard by MCHOSE and Unbox Therapy launches on Kickstarter

Following the massive success of their initial collaboration in 2024, MCHOSE and Unbox Therapy have once again joined forces to launch their first official co-branded keyboard—the UT98 Mechanical Keyboard. Designed for quiet performance and premium comfort, the UT98 will debut on Kickstarter starting July 17, 2025, offering fans and enthusiasts a chance to grab early perks and exclusive discounts.

This new partnership began when Lewis from Unbox Therapy tested and reviewed the MCHOSE GX87 last August. Its soft, bouncy typing caught his attention and quickly went viral—racking up more than 5 million views across platforms. But while the GX87 impressed with its typing feel, viewers also pointed out one key improvement area: the sound.

A quieter evolution of GX87

With that feedback in mind, the teams at MCHOSE and Unbox Therapy set out to develop a keyboard that retains the beloved feel of the GX87 while being much quieter—perfect for use in shared spaces, libraries, and professional setups.

The result is the UT98, featuring two carefully tuned switch options:

Silent Peach V3 – Engineered for ultra-quiet performance, ideal for office or study use.
Icy Creamsicle – A fan-favourite switch, praised for its buttery smooth and creamy keystroke feel.

Premium features and signature design

The UT98 doesn’t just feel great—it’s packed with enthusiast-grade features. It comes with Gasket Mount for a soft typing experience, hot-swappable sockets for customisation, and full N-Key Rollover support.

Adding even more utility, the UT98 includes a premium aluminium volume knob with one-tap mute/unmute and a dedicated calculator key for instant access (Windows only).

On the design side, the keyboard is deeply rooted in Unbox Therapy’s visual identity. The keycaps feature a custom typeface inspired by the UT logo, offering a clean, unified look that fans will instantly recognise.

You’ll get to choose between two bold colourways:

Classic Therapy – A clean black-and-white look with panda-like minimalism.
Retro Therapy – A striking orange design echoing the iconic Unbox Therapy branding.

And to complete the setup, MCHOSE is also releasing matching accessories, including a co-branded wrist rest and mouse pad—both reflecting the same Unbox Therapy styling.

Early access offer now live

The UT98 Mechanical Keyboard officially launches on Kickstarter on July 17, 2025, but MCHOSE is already offering a limited VIP early access programme. From June 16 to July 16, backers can reserve their spot for just $2, unlocking up to 36% in discounts once the campaign goes live.
