ASUS ROG reveals two new powerful motherboards: Crosshair X870E Extreme and Apex

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has just launched two new motherboards: ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme and ROG Crosshair X870E Apex. These are made for people who want to build high-end gaming or work computers using the new AMD Ryzen 9000 Series processors. These new boards join the ROG Crosshair X870E Hero, which was already released earlier. Now, users have three strong options for AMD systems.
ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme: Made for top performance
The X870E Extreme is a high-end motherboard with strong features and a stylish new look. It supports powerful CPUs like the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and has a 20+2+2 power system, which helps the CPU run fast and smooth, even under heavy use. It also has big metal heatsinks to keep the system cool.
This board is perfect for people who like to overclock their PC. It includes a special OC kit with tools like:
- LN2 mode for extreme cooling
- ReTry button to fix boot issues during overclocking
- FlexKey button that can be set to different functions
- Probelt points for checking voltage manually
The motherboard’s BIOS includes easy settings like:
- AI Overclocking to boost CPU speed
- ASUS Enhanced Memory Profiles (AEMP) for faster RAM
- Dynamic OC Switcher to switch between strong multi-core and single-core performance
- Core Flex for adjusting clock speeds, power, and heat
- AI Cache Boost for better AI performance—up to 12.75% faster
Another new feature is NitroPath DRAM, which can improve RAM speed by up to 400 MT/s.
For storage, it supports the latest PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot, and uses a new M.2 Q-Release and Q-Latch system, so users can install SSDs easily without tools.
In terms of networking, it includes:
- 10 Gb and 5 Gb Ethernet ports for fast wired internet
- WiFi 7 support with speeds up to 6.5 Gbps, using the new 6 GHz band

Cooling is also very good on this board:
- It has 18+2+2 power stages
- Big heatsinks with an L-shaped heat pipe
- A full metal backplate for extra cooling and strength
- Many fan headers, including support for custom water cooling systems
- Comes with a ROG Memory Fan Kit to cool the RAM
The Apex board also supports PCIe 5.0 graphics cards and fast M.2 storage:
- Two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots for GPUs
- Three PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots for SSDs
- Tool-free installation with Q-Latch system
- Extra M.2 slots on a bundled ROG DIMM.2 card
- Four SATA ports for more storage options
It also includes strong internet and USB support, with:
- WiFi 7
- 5 Gb Ethernet
- Lots of fast USB ports
ASUS also introduced a tool called AI Advisor, found in the ASUS DriverHub app. It helps users understand the new motherboards better and gives tips to improve performance.
With the new Crosshair X870E Extreme and Crosshair X870E Apex, ASUS ROG gives users two very powerful motherboards for building next-gen AMD computers. Whether you want high-speed memory, top cooling, or strong performance for gaming or work, these motherboards are ready for the job.
