AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT is official: takes aim at RTX 5060 Ti with aggressive $299 starting price
AMD has finally pulled the curtain back on its latest mid-range graphics card, the Radeon RX 9060 XT, positioning it as a strong challenger to NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5060 Ti. With a competitive price tag and promising performance, the RX 9060 XT is set to shake up the market and give budget-conscious gamers a better value option.
This year has already seen some major hardware announcements, with both AMD and NVIDIA launching their next-generation GPUs. While NVIDIA was the first to showcase its RTX 50 series back in January, AMD quickly gained momentum in March with the release of the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070, two cards that offered strong performance and were well-received in terms of sales. Now, AMD is continuing its push into the mid-range space with the announcement of the RX 9060 XT.

Available in two versions, the RX 9060 XT comes with either 8 GB or 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, priced at $299 and $349 respectively. This is a welcome move in a market where GPU prices have climbed significantly over the past few years. Many gamers still remember the days of the GTX 1070 being available around €400, but since the RTX 20 series, GPU pricing has often felt out of reach for average buyers — especially during and after the pandemic era with the RTX 30 and RTX 40 generations.
With the RX 9060 XT, AMD is making it clear that performance doesn’t have to come at a steep cost. Compared to its rival, the RTX 5060 Ti, which carries a higher MSRP, AMD claims that its new card not only costs less but also offers superior performance in many titles.
In official benchmarks shared by AMD, the RX 9060 XT 16GB version delivers up to 30% better performance at 1440p rasterization and up to 62% faster performance with Ray Tracing compared to the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. On average, AMD says its new GPU is 6% faster than the competition overall.
Even more importantly for many users, AMD touts a 15% improvement in performance per dollar across a selection of over 40 tested games. That’s a clear message aimed at gamers looking for the best value when upgrading or building a new system.
Core specifications and features
The Radeon RX 9060 XT is built using the new Navi 44 GPU, featuring:
- 2,048 shader processors
- Boost clock up to 3.13 GHz
- 8 GB or 16 GB of GDDR6 memory
- 128-bit memory bus
- 150W–182W total board power (TBP)
- PCIe 5.0 interface
On the connectivity front, the RX 9060 XT includes support for DisplayPort 2.1a and HDMI 2.1b, allowing for high refresh rate and high resolution gaming. For power, AMD sticks to the reliable 8-pin connector, avoiding the issues seen with some newer PCIe 12VHPWR connectors.
Realistic pricing for real gamers
While MSRP no longer guarantees retail price, AMD’s official announcement brings relief to those who feared the worst. Earlier listings in some regions showed inflated prices between €600 to €750, which would have put the card out of reach for most mid-range buyers. However, AMD’s confirmation of the $299 and $349 MSRPs changes the picture significantly.
Assuming standard VAT rates in Europe (21%), the RX 9060 XT 8GB would retail for around €360, while the 16GB version would cost about €420 — still much more affordable than many previous-gen cards at launch.
AMD’s RX 9060 XT is clearly aimed at taking over the mid-range market, and based on early comparisons, it seems to have a strong chance. With attractive pricing, more VRAM than its closest NVIDIA rival, and solid 1440p gaming performance, it looks like AMD has once again delivered a card that puts gamers first.
