Closer Look

The large 24″ screen is amazing to look out. While the RL2460HT definitely has a bezel, this is just fine with me. The plastic casing for the monitor is all black, with very few markings on it. As you can see, on the bottom in the middle is a small BenQ logo and down the right-hand side are some small indicators to let you know where the buttons are on the side panel, especially the power button. Unfortunately, my camera really did not do this poor monitor any justice as the output quality is just amazing and something that really needs to be seen in person to appreciate.

The RL2460HT is designed to be set up just how you want, so as such it tilts and rotates in a number of places so you can get it set up just to your liking. It features a -5°/15° tilt down, a 110mm height adjustment stand and also rotates and has VESA mounting if needed. On one side of the stand, you will notice the Precision Scale System, this is in place so you can duplicate your exact preferred height every time with ease should you ever need to change it. BenQ has taken a many of steps to ensure every user can get the most from the RL2460HT and that it is as easy as can be to set up and use.

There are a number of inputs, including D-Sub, DVI and 2x HDMI. There is also an HDMI output so gamer’s can hookup game capture cards without experiencing any extra input lag, this is a big feature that should help a lot of gamer’s, especially those on consoles.

On the other side are the power input and the headphone jack. BenQ has done a great job at making this a proper gaming monitor and trying to cover all the important gamer features they could!

Peformance and Usage

From the second I plugged the RL2460HT in, I knew I was in for a treat. The amazing colour output was an immediate indication of the quality the RL2460HT had to offer and it only got better from there! I was very anxious to load up a game and see how well everything would work, especially seeing as to how I had never used a 1ms monitor before. So off I went, loaded up Black Ops 3 and proceeded to test the monitor for a couple of hours, if you can really call it that as I was having a great time and it surely didn’t feel like work.

I have to say, I’ve always been a bit skeptical of 1ms monitors, I mean, we are already dealing in milliseconds, can the difference between 1ms and 5ms really be that big? Well, short answer is yes, I could instantly tell that something was different. It seemed like my reaction times were much better and I was finally able to get the jump on my enemies VS it normally being the other way around. Being able to get that 1st shot of 1st, makes a big difference in Call of Duty and the 1ms response rate was surely on my side! Aside from that, the textures looked much better due to the amazing colour output and everything did, in fact, seem much smoother. The textures seemed as if they were loading smoother and overall I was really impressed. This was my first time using a proper gaming monitor, not just some standard 1080p thing and boy, it was a great experience and has changed my views on gaming monitors for life!

Even when using this monitor for day to day activities such as typing reviews, or watching movies, it just feels quality and offers a much more enjoyable experience over a standard 1080p monitor. Even my wife had to come and check it out and say a few good things about it when I was watching a movie on it, something that never happens! She doesn’t like my taste in movies and normally doesn’t see the big deal about all the products I test, but even she was impressed.

Final Thoughts

It really is easy for me to say what a great time I had testing this monitor and how much it makes be want to go buy a pair of them for my setup! As said, even the wife was a fan of the RL2460 which means it must be good! With that being said, let’s go ahead and wrap up this review with my final thoughts.

Performance

The performance from the RL2460HT is nothing short of amazing, given the specifications and features it has to offer. The colour it outputs is bright, vibrant and really just looks amazing. The 1ms response rate is amazing, especially for gaming as it makes everything feel and look much smoother while allowing you to get the jump on your enemies. When you add all of this together, you have one truly impressive monitor. What makes it even more impressive, is the HDMI output which should allow for less lag for those using game capture cards to record their gameplay, especially from consoles. I was unable to test this feature personally, but if it works how it says it does, this is definitely another main selling point for those on consoles.

Design

Technical stuff aside, the RL2460HT is a great looking monitor. It is mostly all black except for a few grey marks such as the BenQ logo and button indicators. Not only does it look good, it is also designed to be functional and can be customized with ease to each individual users needs. The height adjustment stand and precision scale system not only mean users can get it at just the right angle for their needs, it will also allow them to easily remember where they had it should they ever need to readjust it. If that is not enough for you, it also rotates VIA the base further allowing users to get just the right angle. It is easy to see that BenQ took their time in designing this monitor and that they also know a thing or two about user needs.

Value

The RL2460Ht currently retails for around £170 on Amazon UK which makes its affordability just as good as it’s performance. For the money you are getting a truly amazing monitor that has a lot of great features, is designed to be configured to each individual user’s needs with ease and won’t break the bank. If you don’t need 144Hz or 1440P/4K displays then this is an amazing 1080P monitor and is well worth considering. Between the performance it offers and all the features it has, you really can’t go wrong for the price.

When all is said and done, the BenQ RL2460HT is an amazing monitor that checks all 3 boxes for me. Its value was only rivaled by its performance and it comes in a very well designed package. If you are in the market for a top-range 1080P monitor then I highly suggest you take a look at the RL2460HT from BenQ.

Major thanks to BenQ for sending in the RL2460Ht for review.
