Gears of War: Reloaded launches August 26 with 4K, 120 FPS, cross-play and more
Gears of War is making a grand return this summer with Gears of War: Reloaded, a fully enhanced version of the original title that defined a generation. Arriving on August 26, 2025, this refreshed edition is coming to Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5 for $39.99, and will also be included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on day one.
Developed by The Coalition in partnership with Sumo Interactive and Disbelief, Gears of War: Reloaded brings the full content of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition with significant visual and performance upgrades. The game runs at 4K resolution with 60 FPS in campaign and up to 120 FPS in multiplayer, with enhanced features like HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos 7.1.4, VRR, and remastered textures and lighting.
This release also marks the first time the series goes fully multiplatform, offering complete cross-play and cross-progression between Xbox, PC, and PlayStation platforms. Players can squad up across all systems without a Microsoft account, although signing in with one enables progression syncing and full cross-platform social features.
A celebration of 20 years of Gears of War
With Gears of War approaching its 20th anniversary in 2026, Reloaded serves as a tribute to the stories, action, and brotherhood that the franchise is known for. The game includes everything from the Ultimate Edition: a bonus campaign act, all multiplayer maps and modes, and a wide roster of classic characters and cosmetics—all unlocked through progression with no extra cost.
Gears of War: Reloaded supports two-player split-screen co-op in the campaign and up to 8-player online multiplayer. The re-release has been tuned to deliver the smoothest and most immersive Gears experience yet, eliminating loading screens in the campaign and upgrading performance for every platform.
