MaxSun iCraft X870M delivers strong performance and future-ready tech

When MaxSun introduced the new iCraft X870M, it felt like the company was aiming to surprise builders who prefer smaller PCs but still want top-level hardware. This microATX board may look compact, but once you look closer, it becomes clear that MaxSun has packed it with features usually seen on much larger motherboards.

The biggest talking point is its power delivery. With support for 300 W out of the box—and the option to unlock it to 400 W—it is clear that MaxSun expects future AMD chips to demand more energy. The 16+2+1 phase VRM with 50 A DrMOS keeps everything steady, making the board suitable for heavy workloads and overclocking.

Cooling gets special attention too. Instead of relying only on passive heatsinks, the iCraft X870M uses a small 40 mm fan to move air over the Gen 5 and Gen 4 M.2 slots. This helps fast SSDs keep their speed even when pushed hard. The board includes three M.2 slots, two on the front and one on the back, giving users plenty of storage options.

One of the most unique touches is the 4-inch true-colour display placed directly on the board. It can show temperature readings, performance data, or even small custom animations. It makes the motherboard feel more personal, almost like it has its own character. With memory support going up to DDR5-8400 OC, the board is also ready for high-speed RAM setups.

MaxSun iCraft X870M connectivity

Connectivity is strong on every side. There is a 5 GbE LAN port for quick wired networking, while Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 take care of wireless needs. The USB selection is equally impressive: two 40 Gbps USB4 ports, a 10 Gbps Type-C front header, several 5 Gbps ports, and more USB 2.0 ports for extras. Audio is powered by the Realtek ALC1220 codec, ensuring clear output for games and media.

The MaxSun iCraft X870M blends power, style, and forward-thinking features in a small formfactor. It’s ideal for users who want a compact build without giving up high-end performance or modern connectivity. With active cooling, strong VRMs, and a colourful display, it stands out as a fun and capable choice.
