MSI reveals stunning Claw 8 AI+ Polar Tempest Edition with massive 2 TB storage
MSI has officially introduced a new version of its gaming handheld — the Claw 8 AI+ Polar Tempest Edition A2VM. This updated model includes a large 2 TB storage option and features a new design. It’s powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 7 258V “Lunar Lake” chip, promising better graphics and battery performance. The price in the US is expected to start at around $999, while Amazon Germany has already listed it for €1107.21 including VAT.
MSI first showed off the Claw 8 AI+ last December and displayed the “Sandstorm” colour at CES 2025. Many people in North America were looking forward to a release in January, but it didn’t arrive as expected. Now, with the Polar Tempest Edition, MSI is giving the device a second chance with a fresh design and renewed marketing.
This new version keeps the same hardware inside but features a new white colour with light blue accents. MSI says the coating is made of a special polyurethane material that looks like ice-blue crystals on snow, giving it a cool and clean appearance.
The Claw 8 AI+ runs on Intel’s new Lunar Lake chip, which focuses on power efficiency and improved graphics. It also supports fast LPDDR5X memory and now comes with a big 2 TB SSD, allowing users to install plenty of games without worrying about space.
However, MSI isn’t the only one working on powerful handhelds. ASUS is rumoured to be releasing a next-gen ROG Ally with AMD’s new Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip. This could make the competition even stronger for MSI. Also, there are early hints that MSI is planning a third-generation Claw device that might use Intel’s future chips like Arrow Lake-H or Panther Lake.
Although the Claw series had a slow start, MSI seems ready to push back into the market with this new edition. The Polar Tempest Edition brings a bigger storage option, a stylish new design, and improved performance.
