Qualcomm Unveils Powerful Snapdragon Reality Elite for Next Generation XR Devices
Qualcomm has officially introduced the new Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform, a powerful chipset designed to drive the next generation of extended reality (XR) devices. Announced during Augmented World Expo (AWE), the new platform is built for advanced mixed reality and spatial computing experiences, offering improved graphics, faster performance, and powerful on-device artificial intelligence.

The Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform is designed for both high-performance all-in-one video see-through headsets and lightweight optical see-through smart glasses. Qualcomm says the platform will help manufacturers create more immersive XR products while improving efficiency and battery life.
According to Ziad Asghar, Senior Vice President and General Manager of XR, Wearables and Personal AI at Qualcomm Technologies, XR adoption continues to grow worldwide, with more than 60 million devices already in use. He said the new platform was created to meet the increasing demand for better performance, smarter AI features, and improved power efficiency.
One of the biggest highlights of Snapdragon Reality Elite is its advanced AI capability. The platform delivers up to 48 TOPS of AI performance, allowing it to run large language models and vision models directly on the device. This enables features such as intelligent AI assistants, realistic digital avatars, and real-time object generation within mixed reality environments.
Qualcomm also claims major performance improvements compared to previous XR platforms. The new chipset offers up to 60 percent higher GPU performance, up to 30 percent faster CPU performance, and up to 160 percent better NPU performance. These upgrades allow developers to create richer XR experiences with smoother interactions and more detailed virtual environments.
For visuals, Snapdragon Reality Elite supports resolutions up to 4.4K per eye at 90 frames per second. Qualcomm says users can expect sharper images, smoother motion, and improved color quality. The company has also improved video see-through technology to reduce latency and make digital content blend more naturally with the real world.

Battery efficiency has also received a significant boost. Qualcomm states that devices powered by Snapdragon Reality Elite can deliver up to 20 percent longer battery life while running the same workloads. In addition, the chipset can operate up to 12 degrees Celsius cooler under load, helping manufacturers build lighter and more comfortable XR devices.
The Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform is already being adopted by industry partners. Qualcomm confirmed that it will power the upcoming XREAL Project Aura XR glasses and future devices from Play For Dream. More products based on the platform are expected to be announced in the coming months.
With stronger AI capabilities, faster processing power, better graphics, and improved efficiency, Snapdragon Reality Elite marks an important step forward for the future of XR technology and immersive computing.
