AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700 GPU lands July 23 with powerful AI boost
AMD has officially announced the arrival date for its latest AI graphics card. The Radeon AI PRO R9700 GPU will be available starting Wednesday, July 23. This card is specially made for AI workloads and uses the latest RDNA 4 design.
The R9700 features the Navi 48 chip and comes with a full 32 GB of GDDR6 memory. It also supports PCIe 5.0. AMD claims it delivers up to 496% faster AI performance compared to NVIDIA’s RTX 5080 desktop GPU, while costing around half the price of NVIDIA’s new RTX PRO Blackwell series.

At first, the R9700 will only be sold in ready-made workstations from brands like Boxx and Velocity Micro. DIY PC builders can expect to see standalone models from ASRock, PowerColor, and others later in Q3 2025. Early price hints show around $1,250—higher than the $599 RX 9070 XT, but still cheaper than many NVIDIA workstation cards. Pre-orders are already open.
The Radeon AI PRO R9700 is made for AI professionals. It is perfect for jobs like language models, AI art generation, generative design, and similar tasks. Thanks to its 32 GB VRAM, it can handle large models locally without needing the cloud. This means better speed, lower delay, and improved privacy.

The card fully supports AMD’s ROCm 6.3 platform, making it easy to work with popular tools such as PyTorch, ONNX Runtime, and TensorFlow. Developers can train and deploy AI models right on their own workstation.
The GPU has a dual-slot size and uses a blower-style cooler. This keeps things cool even in multi-GPU setups. It’s a smart pick for companies building AI systems with several cards working together.
AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700 GPU launch
With strong AI power and a lower price point, the Radeon AI PRO R9700 looks ready to make an impact. It officially launches on July 23, with pre-orders already live.
