Battlefield RedSec brings thrilling free-to-play battle royale action for everyone
Battlefield fans have a reason to celebrate as EA has officially revealed Battlefield RedSec, a brand-new free-to-play battle royale game that promises fast, intense, and action-packed gameplay. The game will be available on PC via Steam, Epic Games, and the EA App, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Battlefield RedSec stays true to the series’ roots but gives it a fresh twist. It features up to 100 players in massive matches, letting gamers play in teams of four or two. Along with traditional battle royale gameplay, there’s also a squad mode and a mission-based elimination mode, adding more variety and teamwork to every match.

The game takes place in Fort Lyndon, a large government testing site in California that has turned into a war zone. According to EA, it’s the biggest Battlefield map ever made. The map features both close-quarters indoor fights and wide-open city streets where chaos can erupt at any moment. Many parts of the environment are destructible, keeping with Battlefield’s signature style of dynamic and explosive battles.
Battlefield RedSec requirements
To play Battlefield RedSec, PC gamers will need at least an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 processor, along with a Radeon RX 5600 XT, GeForce RTX 2060, or Intel Arc A380 graphics card. The game also requires 16 GB of RAM. However, like many modern multiplayer games, it needs TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled, meaning Linux users, including Steam Deck players, won’t be able to join in for now.
Another highlight of RedSec is its creative side. The game includes Portal, an updated version of Battlefield’s custom game creator. With Portal, players can design their own modes, maps, and battles using the full range of vehicles and weapons available in Battlefield RedSec. It gives the community endless ways to experiment and enjoy the game beyond the main modes.
With its huge player count, destructible environments, and community tools, Battlefield RedSec could mark a big return for the franchise in the free-to-play arena. It’s designed for fun, teamwork, and all-out chaos everything Battlefield fans love, now open to even more players around the world.
