BenQ launches ultimate ScreenBar Halo 2 with pro-level lighting, sleek design, and 423% wider backlight
BenQ, a leader in monitor lighting, has released its new flagship model – the ScreenBar Halo 2. This updated monitor light is built to give professionals better eye comfort, thanks to smarter features, wider lighting coverage, and a more flexible design.
The ScreenBar Halo 2 has been in development for four years. One of its most exciting features is the new Tri-zone Backlight Design, which increases rear light coverage by 423% compared to the previous model. This helps reduce the sharp difference between your monitor and the background, making it easier on the eyes during long sessions.

The front light includes BenQ’s ASYM-Light technology, which uses a special optical setup with an 18° cut-off angle. This design keeps light from shining directly into your eyes or reflecting on the screen — improving focus and visual comfort.

BenQ worked with National Taiwan University of Science and Technology to fine-tune the lighting. Their study showed that balancing ambient light around a monitor helps reduce eye strain. That’s why the Halo 2 is built to follow the ANSI standard of a 3:1 luminance ratio between the screen and the surroundings.
JC Pan, Chief Product Designer at BenQ Smart Lighting, said: “We focused on precision and ease of use. The control knob is now smoother, fingerprint-resistant, and lets you adjust both brightness (0–100%) and colour temperature (2700K to 6500K). It’s great for detailed work like colour grading or editing.”
The mounting system also gets a big upgrade. Based on the gravity clamp from the ScreenBar Pro, the Halo 2 now uses a zinc-alloy support that fits slim and curved monitors without causing any marks or pressure. “It doesn’t clip onto the screen—it gently rests on it,” explained Judy Yang, the lead mechanical engineer.

The ScreenBar Halo 2 is also packed with useful features like auto-dimming, auto on/off, and memory settings to save your favourite setup. Designed in collaboration with MINIMAL Design, founded by former Nike Global Creative Director Scott Wilson, the new light has a clean metallic look that fits any professional desk setup.
To celebrate the launch, BenQ is giving away 50 units of the ScreenBar Halo 2 through a special campaign called #ElevatewithHalo. To enter, users need to complete a short questionnaire about their workspace. Winners will be encouraged to share their experiences and how the light helps improve their work.
