Black Myth: Zhong Kui revealed with exciting new journey
Game Science has officially announced Black Myth: Zhong Kui, the next chapter in the Black Myth series. The game will come to PC and “mainstream console platforms,” though exact systems are not confirmed yet. A release date has also not been shared.
Like Black Myth: Wukong, the new title is a single-player action RPG inspired by ancient Chinese myths. This time, instead of the Monkey King, the story will follow Zhong Kui, a well-known figure in Chinese folklore who is often seen as a vanquisher of demons and ghosts.
The developers explained that they chose to reveal the project now because it has become a tradition for them to share progress with players every year on August 20. At this stage, the game is still early in development, so a CG short was released instead of gameplay footage.
Fresh ideas and improvements in Black Myth: Zhong Kui
Game Science said that Black Myth: Zhong Kui will keep the same action RPG style and business model as Wukong. However, the new character and story will bring fresh ideas, new features, and a different style of combat. The team also promised to improve on areas they were not fully satisfied with in the first game.
Although details about gameplay and story are still limited, the developers stressed that they want to surprise players with new experiences while keeping the familiar feel of the Black Myth series. They also confirmed that news about both Wukong and Zhong Kui will now come from unified “Black Myth” accounts across social platforms.
The announcement shows that Game Science is committed to building a series of games inspired by Chinese legends. While fans may need to wait some time before playing, Black Myth: Zhong Kui is shaping up to be another exciting journey in the growing franchise.
