ASUS impresses with mighty RTX 5090 ROG Matrix GPU
ASUS has revealed its new GeForce RTX 5090 ROG Matrix graphics card, and it is one of the most powerful air-cooled GPUs ever made. Unlike many designs that rely on liquid cooling, ASUS confirmed this card uses a special quad-fan setup, with three fans in the front and one at the back, creating a push-pull system for better airflow.
The card has a bold red ROG shroud with a unique ring design and an acrylic plate carrying the ROG Matrix logo. For power delivery, ASUS offers support for both BTF and the new 16-pin 12V-2×6 connector, allowing the card to draw up to 800 watts—much higher than the 575 watts of the standard Founders Edition. According to ASUS, this alone gives the card a 10% performance boost, with a confirmed boost clock of 2,730 MHz.

To handle such high performance, ASUS uses 3 Oz copper PCB layers that help reduce heat and voltage drop, improving efficiency and stability for overclocking. The GPU also uses liquid metal for better heat transfer between the chip and heatsink, which is vital for a card consuming this much power.
ASUS RTX 5090 ROG Matrix GPU pricing information
Although ASUS has not yet shared pricing or memory clock details of RTX 5090 ROG Matrix GPU , it is expected that the card will also come factory overclocked. Only 1,000 units will be produced worldwide, making it not just a performance monster but also a collector’s item. Overclockers may attempt to push it further, but with such limited stock, it remains to be seen if anyone will chase extreme records with it.
