Kingmax PQ4442 Brings Fast Gen4 Speeds in a Compact SSD Design

The Kingmax PQ4442 is the latest SSD from Kingmax, offering PCIe Gen4 performance in the compact M.2 2242 form factor. The new drive is designed for users who need fast storage in devices where space is limited, including mini PCs, handheld gaming systems, and other compact platforms.

Available in 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities, the Kingmax PQ4442 combines 3D QLC NAND flash memory with the Silicon Motion SM2268XT DRAMless controller. This combination allows the drive to deliver solid performance while maintaining a small physical footprint.

Kingmax states that all three versions of the Kingmax PQ4442 can reach sequential read speeds of up to 5,000 MB/s. Sequential write speeds depend on capacity, with the 2TB model offering up to 4,400 MB/s, the 1TB version reaching up to 4,300 MB/s, and the 500GB model delivering up to 2,500 MB/s.

Random performance is also competitive for a drive in this category. The 2TB and 1TB versions of the Kingmax PQ4442 provide up to 400,000 IOPS in 4K random reads, while the 500GB model reaches up to 350,000 IOPS. All capacities support up to 500,000 IOPS in 4K random write operations.

Endurance ratings vary across the lineup. The 2TB Kingmax PQ4442 is rated for 960 TBW, while the 1TB model offers 560 TBW. The 500GB version comes with a 280 TBW rating. Kingmax is backing the entire series with a three-year warranty.

With its combination of PCIe Gen4 performance, multiple capacity options, and compact M.2 2242 design, the Kingmax PQ4442 provides a practical storage upgrade for users looking to add fast NVMe storage to smaller devices. Kingmax has not yet announced pricing for the new SSD series.
