Ayaneo launches powerful Next 2 Windows gaming handheld with big OLED screen

Ayaneo has officially launched its new Windows gaming handheld called Next 2. This is the successor to the original Ayaneo Next, which first arrived in 2022. The new model comes with a fresh design, better grip, stronger hardware, and a much bigger screen.

The Ayaneo Next 2 features a large 9.06-inch OLED display with a sharp resolution of 2400 × 1504. The screen supports multiple refresh rates, including 60 Hz, 120 Hz, 144 Hz, and even 165 Hz. This means games can look very smooth. The panel can reach up to 1155 nits of brightness, supports full DCI-P3 colours, and uses high-frequency PWM dimming to reduce eye strain.

Inside, Ayaneo offers two powerful processor options. Buyers can choose between the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 or the Ryzen AI Max 385. The top Ryzen AI Max+ 395 chip has 16 cores and 32 threads and is based on AMD’s latest Zen 5 design. It can boost up to 5.1 GHz, making it one of the most powerful chips ever used in a handheld device.

Graphics are handled by the built-in Radeon 8060S GPU, based on RDNA 3.5. It comes with 40 compute units and clocks up to 2.9 GHz, which should handle modern PC games with ease. The chip also includes an XDNA 2 NPU that delivers up to 126 TOPS of AI performance, helping with future AI features and system tasks.

To keep temperatures under control, Ayaneo uses a dual-fan cooling system with two exhaust vents. Power comes from a large 116 Wh battery, which is much bigger than what most handhelds offer.

For controls, the Next 2 includes adjustable TMR joysticks, Hall-effect triggers with trigger locks, an eight-direction D-pad, dual touchpads, four rear buttons, and extra custom keys. These features are aimed at both gaming and productivity use.

Connectivity is also strong. The handheld includes two USB4 ports with support for 40 Gbps speeds and DisplayPort 1.4 output. There is also a microSD card slot, a 3.5 mm audio jack, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.4.

Ayaneo Next 2 pricing and availability

Pricing for the Ayaneo Next 2 starts at USD 1,799. Pre-orders will open soon on Indiegogo, and shipping is expected to begin in June 2026. Several configurations will be available, offering different RAM and storage options for power users.

With its large OLED screen, strong AMD hardware, and premium build, the Ayaneo Next 2 is shaping up to be a high-end Windows handheld for serious gamers and tech fans.
