EasySMX S10 gaming controller for Switch 2 review

EasySMX S10 gaming controller for Switch 2 review

The EasySMX S10 Controller is a third-party gamepad specially designed for the Nintendo Switch 2, but it also works perfectly with PC and mobile devices. This versatile controller is built for players who value flexibility, offering smooth compatibility with PC, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS devices. From its design and marketing, it’s clear that this controller is mainly aimed at Switch players.

I’ve been using EasySMX controllers on my PC for quite some time. We previously reviewed the EasySMX D05 and EasySMX D10 controllers, both offering solid performance for their price. Now, EasySMX has launched new controllers designed for the Switch. Although I don’t have the Switch 2 at the moment, the EasySMX S10 is a multiplatform device, so we’ll be testing it on PC and sharing our full review as always.

Unboxing

Turning to the back, the box shows a large image of the controller with lines pointing to its main features like anti-drift sticks, mechanical buttons, HD rumble, back buttons, and NFC for amiibo. It also mentions the magnetic faceplates and swappable D-pads. At the bottom, there’s a small table listing the model (S10), supported devices (Switch, PC, iOS, Android), and connection options (Bluetooth or wired). Both versions look clean and stylish, keeping the same layout and yellow accent stripe for a consistent design.

When you open the box, the EasySMX S10 Controller is placed neatly on top in a white tray. Under this tray, you’ll find a USB Type-C cable for charging or wired use. The rest of the accessories come in a separate slim box inside the main package.

Inside that small box, you get two magnetic faceplates, a circular D-pad, a cross D-pad, two sticker sheets for decoration, and a user manual. Everything is nicely arranged and easy to unpack.

A closer look

The EasySMX S10 Controller has a modern and compact design. It looks a lot like a Switch Pro controller but with a few stylish touches of its own. The build quality feels solid, and the controller weighs around 244 grams, which gives it a balanced feel in the hands. It’s quite comfortable to hold thanks to its curved grips and textured back. It doesn’t slip easily, even after long gaming sessions.

The front faceplate is held in place by magnets, so you can easily remove and replace it with another one. The transparent faceplate has a wavy design, while the extra one in the box gives a simpler and cleaner look. The Midnight version adds RGB lighting around the bottom edges and logo, while the White version keeps things more minimal without any lights.

At the back, you’ll find two programmable buttons that can be remapped. They’re not the easiest to press quickly but useful once you get used to them. The M button in the centre lets you adjust settings like vibration, lighting, and turbo.

Overall, the EasySMX S10 feels good in the hands, has a neat design, and offers some customisation with its swappable parts and lights. It’s built with comfort and flexibility in mind, especially for players who switch between different platforms.

Sticks

The EasySMX S10 comes with new TMR sticks that help prevent stick drift and give smoother control. They feel accurate and move well, though the plastic around them makes them a little less smooth than some premium controllers. The sticks respond quickly, especially in wired mode where the 1000Hz polling rate gives almost instant input. In Bluetooth mode, the 125Hz rate still works fine for most casual games.

Face buttons

The ABXY buttons use mechanical switches that give a nice clicky feel when pressed. They are slightly flat and easy to press, with a short travel distance. Each button feels solid and consistent, making them great for fast-paced games. They are also a bit larger than usual, so even long gaming sessions don’t cause much finger strain. Overall, they feel better and more responsive than older EasySMX models like the D10 or X10.

D-Pad

The EasySMX S10 comes with two magnetic D-pads, one circular and one cross-shaped. You can easily swap them depending on what you prefer. The circular D-pad feels smoother and is great for menu navigation or JRPGs, while the cross-shaped D-pad is better for platformers or games that need more precise control. Both are clicky, responsive, and easy to use without pressing the wrong direction.

Triggers

The controller comes with responsive analog triggers that feel smooth and precise during gameplay. They offer good resistance and depth, allowing better control in racing or shooting games. The triggers’ sensitivity ensures that every press is registered accurately, providing a satisfying feel whether you’re braking in a racing game or aiming in a shooter.

RGB Lighting

The controller comes with bright RGB lighting. The lights run along the inner edges of the faceplate and around the thumbsticks and grips, creating a soft under-glow effect. The faceplate is magnetic and swappable, letting the light shine through for a stylish look. Users can switch between different lighting modes like Dynamic, Breathing, Solid, and Gradient, and even adjust brightness levels. The RGB lighting adds a modern and premium touch to the EasySMX S10 controller.

User Experience

Using the EasySMX S10 controller feels smooth, solid, and comfortable from the first touch. The grip feels natural, and the buttons respond quickly with a satisfying click. The thumbsticks move accurately without any drift, while the triggers offer firm resistance for better control during driving or shooting games. It is designed to give players a confident and precise feel during long sessions.

The built-in gyro works well for motion control, adding accuracy and a more natural feel in racing or aiming games. The HD rumble is another highlight as it reacts perfectly to in-game actions, letting you feel every crash or explosion with realistic vibration feedback. Together, they make gameplay more immersive and lively.

Customisable magnetic faceplates add a personal touch, allowing players to easily change the controller’s style. Performance stays stable whether you play wired or wireless, with almost no input delay even after hours of use.

Made for Switch 2 players, the EasySMX S10 supports one-tap wake-up, smooth motion control, and built-in NFC for amiibo use. The C button helps with in-game chat, and the two programmable back buttons make complex combos easier. A 1200mAh battery powers long gaming sessions, and compatibility extends to Switch 1, PC, Android, and iOS. With its comfort, motion control, performance, and RGB lighting, the S10 stands out as a reliable and stylish controller for everyday gaming.

Connectivity and battery

The EasySMX S10 controller offers both wired and wireless connectivity, giving players flexibility depending on how they like to play. It connects easily through Bluetooth for wireless gaming or with the included Type-C cable for a stable wired setup. The connection stays steady across all supported devices, whether you are using a Switch, PC, Android, or iOS device. Pairing is quick, and switching between platforms is smooth without any delay or disconnection.

Powering the controller is a built-in 1200mAh rechargeable battery that provides long hours of playtime on a single charge. It can easily last through extended gaming sessions without needing frequent recharging. When the battery runs low, you can continue playing while charging via the Type-C cable. This makes the EasySMX S10 convenient for both short and long gaming sessions, keeping you connected and ready at all times.

Verdict

The EasySMX S10 Controller is a great all-rounder for Switch and PC players. It feels solid, performs smoothly, and offers excellent comfort during long sessions. The motion control and HD rumble make gameplay more immersive, while the quick wake-up feature and customisable RGB lights add convenience and style.

Its swappable faceplates and D-pads give it a fun, personal touch, and the battery easily lasts through long gaming hours. With wireless performance and wide compatibility, the EasySMX S10 stands out as a reliable and enjoyable controller for everyday gaming.

We recommend the EasySMX S10 because it’s a true all-rounder. With its Xbox-style layout, support for Android, PC, and Switch 2, it gives you full flexibility no matter what device you play on. At a reasonable price, it delivers comfort, performance, and features that make it worth every penny.
