Mafia: The Old Country launching August 8 with excitingly low price tag
Mafia: The Old Country, the newest entry in the long-running Mafia series developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K, will officially launch on August 8 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox. In a welcome surprise for gamers, the game will release at a lower-than-usual price, standing out amid rising prices in the AAA gaming space.

The Standard Edition of Mafia: The Old Country will launch for just $49.99, making it one of the few major titles in recent years to release below the $70 mark that has become the norm for current-gen games. A Deluxe Edition will also be available for $59.99, offering several in-game items and digital bonuses without a major jump in price.
What’s in the Deluxe Edition?
The Deluxe Edition includes two bonus packs:
- The Padrino Pack, featuring themed weapons like the “Lupara Speciale” shotgun and “Vendetti Speciale” pistol, a stylish “Padrino” outfit, and accessories including the “Cosimo” horse and a luxury “Eckhart Speciale” limousine.
- The Gatto Nero Pack, which includes the “Bodeo Nero” pistol, “Velocità” charm, a racing outfit, and a race car named “Carozella Nero”.

Additionally, players will receive digital content such as a digital artbook and the original score.
Pre-ordering either edition will also grant access to the Soldato Pack, which includes the “Soldato” outfit, a “Scannaturi Speciale” knife, the “Tesoro” horse and accessories, and the “Lupara” charm.
A shift in gameplay
Alongside the pricing and release date news, 2K and Hangar 13 also revealed a brand-new trailer. The trailer gives a first proper look at the game’s tone and mechanics, highlighting a significant change: Mafia: The Old Country will move away from the open-world format of previous entries. Instead, it will offer a linear, story-driven experience, with a tighter focus on narrative and character development.
The story takes players back to the roots of the Mafia saga, with a cinematic atmosphere and set-piece-driven progression, more in line with classic mobster films.

More details coming from PAX East
More information is expected to be revealed later today during a PAX East panel hosted by the developers. Both the newly released trailer and the panel stream will be made available for viewing soon, offering a deeper dive into gameplay, characters, and the world of The Old Country.
Mafia: The Old Country will also support GeForce NOW at launch, making it accessible to players who prefer cloud gaming.
