ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 brings top gaming power with stunning 4K 240Hz display
ASUS Republic of Gamers has officially introduced the new ROG Strix SCAR 18, and it looks like one of the most powerful gaming laptops the company has ever made. The new model comes with top-end hardware, a brighter and smoother display, and a redesigned cooling system built for heavy gaming and creative work.
The laptop is powered by up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. ASUS says the machine can deliver up to 320W total system power, allowing both the CPU and GPU to run at higher performance levels during demanding tasks.

The new ROG Strix SCAR 18 is designed for gamers, content creators, and users working with AI tools or large projects. According to ASUS, the laptop can handle modern AAA games, esports titles, video editing, 3D rendering, and other heavy workloads without slowing down.

One of the biggest highlights is the display. ASUS has added what it calls the world’s first 18-inch 4K 240Hz mini LED laptop screen with ROG Nebula ELMB technology. The display supports over 2000 dimming zones and reaches up to 1600 nits brightness in HDR mode. It also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour range for rich and vibrant colours.
The new ROG Nebula ELMB feature is designed to improve motion clarity during fast gameplay. Unlike traditional motion blur reduction systems, ASUS uses multiple lighting zones to reduce blur while still supporting variable refresh rates. This should help esports players enjoy smoother visuals without screen tearing.
Cooling has also received major upgrades. The laptop uses a larger vapor chamber, improved airflow, and thinner copper fins for better heat management. ASUS claims the updated fans push up to 91% more airflow compared to the previous model. The company has also included a dedicated cooling solution for PCIe 5.0 SSDs to keep storage performance stable.
ASUS has made upgrades easier as well. The bottom panel can be removed without tools, giving quick access to RAM and SSD slots. The SSD bays also use the ROG Q-Latch system, allowing drives to be installed without screws.
In terms of design, the ROG Strix SCAR 18 keeps the familiar ROG gaming look. It features a full RGB light bar around the base, an illuminated ROG logo, and AniMe Vision LEDs on the lid for custom animations and text. Users who prefer a cleaner appearance can disable the lighting through Armoury Crate software.
