Biwin Mini SSD brings blazing fast speed in tiny design

Biwin has introduced a new Mini SSD that mixes small size with very high speed. The storage card is shaped like a SIM tray and is only a little larger than a MicroSD card. Even with its tiny size, the Mini SSD can reach read speeds of up to 3,700 MB/s and write speeds of up to 3,400 MB/s. It connects through PCIe 4.0 x2 and will be sold in 512 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB options.

The card measures just 15 × 17 × 1.4 mm and can be ejected with a simple pin, just like removing a SIM from a phone. This makes swapping drives quick and easy without using tools. Biwin also says the Mini SSD is dust and water resistant with an IP68 rating and can survive drops of up to three metres, which makes it a strong choice for mobile use.

This new format aims to give the ease of MicroSD cards but with the speed of an M.2 drive. Early support has already been confirmed for handhelds like the GPD Win 5 and the OneXPlayer Super X. If more device makers join in, the Mini SSD could become a new standard for portable gaming and other small devices.
