OneXPlayer Super X brings powerful Strix Halo performance in a bold new design

OneXPlayer Super X annouced a 14-inch laptop and tablet hybrid, and the device is already creating a lot of excitement. This new model comes with a rare mix of strong hardware and a flexible two-in-one design. The company has also opened an official Kickstarter placeholder, giving people an early look at what to expect.

OneXPlayer Super X 2

The main highlight of the OneXPlayer Super X is the new AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU. It comes with 16 cores and 32 threads, and it can boost up to 5.1 GHz. Along with this, the device uses the Radeon 8060S graphics chip, which offers power close to a desktop RTX 4060. This is a lot of performance for a compact 14-inch machine.

One of the most unique things about this device is its optional liquid-cooling feature. When the Super X is used normally, the APU runs at a 45 W TDP. But when you connect the external Frost Bay liquid-cooling unit, the TDP jumps to 120 W. This allows the chip to stay cool and reach faster, stable speeds during heavy tasks like gaming, video editing, or running large AI models. The liquid cooler is sold separately, but it gives the system its best performance.

The OneXPlayer Super X also supports up to 128 GB of RAM. Out of this, 96 GB can be shared with the GPU. This helps the device run local AI tools and large language models without slowing down.

The display is another strong point. It is a 14-inch screen with a 2880×1800 resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, and a refresh rate that shifts between 48 Hz and 120 Hz. It also supports HDR, a very high 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, making it useful for artists and designers.

For storage, users can choose an M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. OneXPlayer also allows buyers to add a BiWin Mini SSD for an extra 2 TB, plus there is a microSD card slot for more space.

Powering all of this is an 85.58 Wh battery, which the company claims can last up to 12.2 hours for offline video and around 8.2 hours of online streaming. These numbers are from OneXPlayer’s own tests, so real-world battery life may be different once reviewers get their hands on it.

OneXPlayer Super X release date

Pricing and the final release date for OneXPlayer Super X have not been shared yet. The Kickstarter campaign page is live as a placeholder, and more details should arrive soon.
